Angus cattle
Our black angus cattle are pasture raised making our beef more delicious with a healthier omega fatty acid composition than grain fed beef**.
We grow them for twice as long as the average Australian beef, resulting in a richer fuller flavour. We then dry age our beef for 3 weeks in a chiller which makes the meat more tender and improves the flavour***. It is finally carved by artisan butchers from MeatCrew into a large variety of premium cuts.
The taste speaks for itself.
Regenerative agriculture
Migrating herbivores play a vital role in healthy soil and grasslands. We graze our farm by rotational grazing for short periods of time followed by long periods of rest to mimic natural grazing and optimise pasture growth and nutrition.
By digesting the pasture, cattle allow the soil to assimilate nitrogen, carbon and other nutrients that would otherwise oxidise into the atmosphere as the grass dries. By keeping the pasture at a good length, we avoid the tall grass from smothering seedlings, and short grass from exposing the soil to the hot sun. The cow patties provide a rich moist oasis for microbiology to survive the dry hot summers of our region.
We supplement the herd’s diet with local grass bales and a natural mineral mix to ensure their good health and a good quality nutritious pasture raised beef. As part of our agroforestry plan, we plant thousands of trees in wildlife corridors which also provide shelter and great nutritious foliage for the cattle. They provide shade and green feed in summer, and improve our farm’s health and the taste of our beef.
The cows help us improve their pasture by sowing a mix of seeds with their hooves. The dry grass bales we feed to our cattle also add biodiversity and organic matter to the soil.
