Eat Like The Jonai

Access to abattoirs is getting almost impossible in Victoria for small-scale farmers like us. With a small group of farmers, we created The Meat Collective @ Jonai.

Our project: building a micro-abattoir and boning room at Jonai Farms. We will run it collectively, using as much as we can from the animals, hides being sent for tanning to Ballarat, and all waste composted on site.

You can help us by purchasing the recently published cookbook Eat Like the Jonai by Tammi Jonas. All profits go to the micro-abattoir construction project.

Ethical Beef

Our small herd of black Angus cattle represent a big part of our regenerative farming system and provide meat as well. 

We take great care of our cattle.  They move along the different paddocks of our farm in a quick rotation so they have grass all year round. They get mineral supplements to stay healthy as well as re-mineralizing the soil with their manure. This also ensure a very good quality and high nutritional pasture raised free range beef.
