The handles are made of strong steel and covered with PVC grip. The steel blade cut against a fixed aluminium anvil.

As opposed to bypass pruner, where the blade and anvil blade slide past one another, the blade of the anvil pruners comes against a base plate (the anvil). It has the advantage to transmit the force better and to cut harder woods using less force, which is better for the hands and joints.

This ideal orchardists’ tool cuts hardwood up to 16mm diameter.
